It's tough to make it as a writer in Los Angeles, and it's hard having a demon own your soul. Ray has both. The Fool, a demon with a wicked sense of humor, bought Ray's soul in exchange for immortality-a condition which the Fool neglected to mention-includes only being able to eat once or twice a week, and means Ray is obligated to do every ludicrous task that his new demon master can think up. To make matters worse, Ray has to contend with rival demons, vicious angels, angry girlfriends, and the worst traffic jams L.A. can throw at him. What's a damned soul to do? Flying in the face of convention, THE FOOL is a mix of dark fantasy, humor, and genuine humanity. While Voltaire's Candide asked the question, Is this the best of all possible worlds?, the Fool asks, Does doing right really mean being good?
