The roads are empty, the lights at the windows are off. The town looks waste. Behind the shadows cast on the facades, among the arks and along the desert streets, the anxiety of the silence and the emptiness seems to hide the presence of solitary voyagers lost in an eternal twilight that gives them space to any escape. Mirko Lamonaca comes back to visual arts after some years dedicated to fiction and he starts from zero. Once lost in an endless space enlightened by an omnipresent moon, the tiny figures of his characters go where the civilization has its own life and place. But what they are going to find will t give them better answers than the ones they have always looked for so as to give the emptiness a meaning.
Borni in Milan in 1976, Mirko Lamonaca lives and works in Bergamo. Devoted to photography and to writings, he exposes his works in art galleries in Berlin and Brussels. He wrote three poems collections and two novels in Italian. The Forgotten Town is his latest visual arts project. www.mirkolamonaca.it lavilleoubliee.tumblr.com
