Meadow Lake was more or less your typical Midwest farm town. There were more dirt track teams than police officers, more bars than churches, and more livestock than people. Stories about hunting dogs or little league games usually made the front page of the paper, but the adults remembered a time when that wasn't the case. Then came spring, and with it the shocking murder of a high school senior. Her death scared some, angered others, and destroyed her best friend, Jenny. Six months later, her life is stuck in a rut that her boyfriend John is determined to pull her out of. But it's fast becoming apparent that things aren't meant to be. Her greatest fear is that she won't ever find the killer. His greatest fear is that she will.
Jason M. Petty is your typical Midwest kid all grown up. Displaying artistic talent from a young age, he drew a book of steam engines for his mother when he was in kindergarten. An artist he may be, but a great speller and mathematician he is not. He enjoys going to cruise nights with his wife, Jana, target shooting with his dad and brother and playing fetch with his dogs, Gizmo and Harold. When he can find the time, he enjoys drawing, designing things he'll never be able to afford, and taking drives through the old lake roads around his home town. He also thrives on playing anything fun on his old guitar and wasting his time in video games.
