The adventurous blue lobster, Titus Tidewater, welcomes the summer season in Maine. Summer means exciting happenings close to the shoreline, but also lurking dangers in the shallow warm water. Titus cautiously explores his new surroundings but soon finds himself ensnared in a lobster trap. Unable to free himself, he is taken to a strange new world on land, before he is ultimately rescued by two children and the ocean itself. A recipient of the Society of Illustrators award, Suzy Verrier's lavish watercolours bring Titus' tale to life. This classic children's book narrates the life of one Maine lobster and displays a captivating world under the sea. Islandport has updated Titus with a new look and added fun facts about Maine lobsters throughout.
Suzy Verrier, a Maine native, studied illustration at the Boston Museum Art School and the Philadelphia Museum College of Arts. She lives in Phippsburg, where she owns and operates North Creek Farm, a country store and nursery featuring an eclectic mix of merchandise and a large selection of roses. In addition to illustrating children's books, Suzy has written two books on roses. Titus Tidewater is based on an event in her childhood when she purchased a lobster from Johnny's Pound in Ogunquit, Maine, only to lose it to the rising coastal tide.
