Toward a Functional Lexicology: Hacia una Lexicologia Funcional - Papers in Honor of L.Martin Mingorance/Estudios Ofrecidos por Amigos y Alumnos in Memoriam a Leocadio Martin Mingorance by Peter Lang GmbH (Paperback, 1997)
In a collection of papers written in English and Spanish, 13 authors from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain demonstrate new approaches to the description of aspects of the lexicon, focusing primarily on verbs, but also dealing with adverbs and uns. The contributions also explore theoretical and methodological implications and problems arising from a lexical component developed by L. Martin Mingorance and based on and complementing Simon C. Dik's Functional Grammar. Issues related to lexicology/lexicography and semantics as well as cognition, philosophy of language and translation are discussed in this context.
The Editor: Gerd Wotjak is Professor of Romance Linguistics and Translatology at the University of Leipzig and has organized several international symposia on the contrastive linguistics of the Romance languages and German, and on Hispanic linguistics. He has edited approximately 20 books on these subjects as well as on lexicology and phraseology, and has published approximately 150 articles, with a main emphasis on lexical semantics, valence theory, lexicon theory and contrastive linguistics/translatology.
