Sie beinhaltet die Entwieklung der Warmestrahlungstheorie, die im Zeit mum von 1860 bis 1900 erfolgte und durch die Namen KIRCHHOFF, BOLTZMANN, W. WIEN, RAYLEIGH und PLANCK gekennzeichnet ist. Aus del' Besehaftigung mit den Werken diesel' groBen Physiker hat sieh dann im Laufe der Zeit das vorliegende Biichlein entwickelt. Seine wissenschaftshistorische Pratention ist be seheiden. Wir hoffen, wenigstens die gr6bsten der gangigen Irrttimer libel' den historisehen Saehverhalt riehtigge stellt zu haben. Jedoch war kein Platz, urn auf dem all gemeinen gesellsehaftlichen und physikgesehiehtliehen Hintergrllnd das personliche Sehicksal, den personlichen 4 Vorwort StH der erwahnten Forscher abzuheben und ihren Bei trag zum wissenschaftlichen Fortschritt allseitig zu wtirdigen.
