John Northcutt was born in Leicester and spent his early life in South London. He saw his first West Ham United match as a young schoolboy, watching the Hammers beat West Bromwich Albion in 1959. After leaving school he followed the team home and away, right across the country, from Southampton to Sunderland, and even into Europe. John was at every game as West Ham won the FA Cup in 1964 and the following season saw the Hammers lift the European Cup Winners' Cup at Wembley by beating TSV Munich. For many years he has been a regular contributor to the club programme and is the West Ham advisor to the PFA for their Footballers Who's Who. He is also co-author to a number of other West Ham United books, including West Ham United The Complete Record and West Ham United The Illustrated History. In 2003 he compiled the The Definitive West Ham United statistics book. This is his second book with Pitch Publishing, following The Claret & Blue Book of West Ham United. John lives in Great Baddow in Essex with his wife Marian and daughter Louise.
