The author was born and brought up in South Wales and at the age of 16 joined the Royal Navy. He spent 23 years in Royal Naval Medical branch, seeing service in hospitals, air-stations and other establishments in the UK and abroad. He served as a submariner for five of those years. After leaving the Royal Navy in 1987, he joined the Ambulance Service and spent another 23 years working on ambulances and rapid response vehicles as a Paramedic. Now retired from this active life he is able to relax and enjoy a more peaceful 'employment'. He enjoys nature and takes advantage of the many nature reserves surrounding his home in Somerset. Along with his poetry, he is also a keen cartoonist and has captured many of his friends and their exploits using this media.
