Charming Picture of A Bygone Era
A good tale to read aloud of a girl who wandered around a country farm having small adventures and enjoying herself. The illustrations are very charming and evocative. The delight of having mud proof boots is well delineated. However the basis of the story is independence and solitude which is not permitted to children in this ultra careful and predatory era. It is possible that many children will fail to understand the potential or reality of such freedom. Thus the book might have little meaning to them. Older people who remember such wanderings will enjoy it.
