Very easy to use and set up. I had a question and called Security Alarm Services and got the answer I needed in plain English. I really like how the unit communicates with my wife's and my mobiles via text. You know exactly what is going on. Highly recommended.

I think this alarm would suit a very basic requirement. For me, it ended up a bit of a disappointing experience, as I had hoped for more and found a number of limitations that have been frustrating, and to me not at all obvious (or logical) when I was researching before purchase. A few things to be aware of: 1. The App uses SMS commands so if you are using a pay as you go SIM then it will cost you for every command you send to/receive from the unit 2. You can only set one disarm code. If you are hoping to be able to identify who armed/disarmed the unit using the code, forget it. 3. You can set up the RFID tags with names (each time you do this it will cost 2 SMS messages) but this is a bit of a guessing game as you have no idea what number each tag is unless you dis/arm the system with the tag and it sends you an SMS telling you which tag it was (another SMS - I think you're getting the picture) 4. For me by far the worst is the extra keypad. The keypad is essentially a standalone unit with its own set of codes. I say codes, because there is an admin code so you can set it up and another code to disarm the system. This code can be different from the main unit and the main unit code doesn't work on it unless you set the same "user" code on the keypad as the main unit so it can give you the illusion it's the same. But the worst thing is that while you can disarm the alarm using the RFID tag on the keypad (you have to pair each tag again with the keypad - remember the keypad and main unit have practically nothing to do with each other) you cannot arm the alarm with the tags using the keypad. So in the end, there is almost no use for the separate keypad because if you hid the main alarm panel somewhere and want to use the RFID tags for arming, you have to go to the main panel anyway. Oh, and there is a separate delay timer for the extra keypad. This keypad just defies all logic to me. 5. If you arm/disarm the system using a code (either main unit or extra keypad) the system doesn't send you a notification (it does when you use the RFID tags). I don't get this. If someone uses the code to arm the system and you want to know if it's been armed you have to send the unit an SMS to get the status and it will send you one back. 6. The RFID tags are difficult to get right. You have to tap twice to arm the system. It's taken up to 7 attempts (our record so far) to arm the system by getting the timing of the two taps just right. Of course the other 6 times it registers as 1 tap (disarm) so you get an SMS every time you get it wrong. I'd like to note the positive aspects of the alarm as well. 1. It is relatively easy to set up the system 2. Once it's set up and running it's pretty easy to use and works reasonably well, so it does what it's supposed to 3. It's pretty cheap for what it is, so for the money it's probably ok, just be aware of the limitations (it would be great to make these a bit clearer somehow before purchase but unless you are one to read through the manuals before purchase you'll be like me and find them out the hard way - well, unless you read this review...) In conclusion, if you want the alarm to do the most basic alarm function and you don't want any reporting or flexibility with codes, etc, it will do the job... And only buy the extra keypad if you are absolutely clear on the limitations and your planned use of it. Hope this helps.Read full review
