I bought this recipe book to learn more about how to use my slow cooker. My husband has been ill, and I felt tender well done food could help his recovery, but my efforts so far had resulted in stringy meat and mushy vegetables. The book is well thought out, with recipes divided into sections which makes it easy to refer to. However, it is a shame that it has been printed on top quality, shiny magazine type paper - that means messy cooks like me can't wipe off the frequent spills and stains. I was flipping through a similar book, as I waited in an unending queue at the Post Office, and this prompted me to try my luck when I got home, and look for a good value alternative on eBay. I am very pleased I did, because my book arrived shortly afterwards, and is just what I needed to start me on my way to confidently prepared, slow cooked meals. It is packed with handy tips, and it is one of the tips which really set me off on my Slow Cooking Bonanza. One of the authors explained that each cooker is different, and you have to get to know it. Previously I had been cooking on a too high setting, but now I have adjusted myself to the process, and we are enjoying moist, easily digested, tender meals. Best of all, I can set and forget in the morning, and finish off the meal in a few minutes before serving.Read full review
I have sourced many crock pot recipes over the years, and this book would be one of the best. The recipes I have made have been tasty, easy to prepare and I am thinking of getting the previous book to this one.
