tailgate re-enforcement, inside and out
this is just what I needed to hang my over sized tire on Old Red, my 1997 jeep TJ. but remember when you order this re-enforcement kit you do have to use your old tire hanger and space out your tire bump stops to keep the tire from getting the shakes while you're on the trail. had no problem with this kit, just used some heat to remove the old hinges and I also bought the re-enforcement plate for the inside of the tailgate as well from same company, wanted the names to match from inside to outside. just had to drill five holes and set nuts for retaining bolts. looks great and made of quality material, make sure that the inside plate is made of steel not carbon fiber or something else.Read full review...

Well engineered to fix a common problem with Wranglers.
I have an oversized spare tire and rim on my 2000 Jeep TJ which caused one of the original tailgate hinges to strain and eventually broke. This tailgate reinforcement kit was exactly the remedy I needed. It allowed me to adjust the lock and keeper to a point that it closes perfectly and easily every time.
