Joss Stone - Mind Body and Soul (CD 2004)
Haven't got much time for Joss Stone 'the public speaker' but she got a good voice for Soul. Really good album, if you've enjoyed the singles you'll enjoy the album. I've now bought both 'Mind Body and Soul' and 'The Soul Sessions' on eBay and neither have been a disappointment.
If you're unsure try either as you'll probably end up with both in your collection anyhow!Read full review...
Joss Stone - Mind Body And Soul
Second album from teenaged Dover soul diva follows 2003's 'The Soul Sessions'. Originally conceived as her debut before that album took over, this is more a contemporary pop-RnB album, albeit emboldened somewhat by the raw, soulful swagger of Stone's voice, which has seen her dubbed "the new Aretha Franklin". With Stone co-writing most of the tracks, it includes the single 'You Had Me'.Read full review...
Joss Stone Mind Body and Soul
One of the true puriest true singing voices of our time..Not too shabby as eye candy..
But this album however brilliant Joss is reminds us of her humble days and her innocence..She has since disowned her early recordings including this in favour of her new diva status..
Love you Joss but have come down off your high horse love and get back to basics soon..
Joss has been compared to the late great Janis Joplin and no doubt this only references Janis points..Maybe that was a step to far for Ms Stone.
Hey girl to be compared to Janis that is not shabby at all..
A real classic album with its soulful bluesey feel not to mention the incrediable musicians and Betty..Rock on..get itRead full review...
Album 2, in which Joss grows up a bit.
The good news is that on this album Joss has reined in the emotion a bit compared to some of the rather over the top renditions on her 1st album. The bad news is that the song selection is not as good. The good news is the standout track is Joss' own 'Dontcha wanna ride?', but check out all her co-composers! The bad news is Joss sounds more like the rest of the identikit 'R&B' singers than on the previous offering.
As you may have noticed this is definitely an album of ups and downs, if you liked the 1st you'll find enough to like on this one, but if you're just getting into Joss or still remember her fondly from 'Junior stars in their eyes' try to check out the album before you spend money on it.Read full review...
