NFL2K Gms Will Make Top 15 or Higher Sport Gms Ever!

NFL 2K1 was by far better than any other sports game when it came out. Some games coming 2 or 3 years after this from other franchises weren't as good. It has very good 3D graphics even by today's standards and there was a gold cord(this cord had 3 game system connectors on it, it is probably very rare now, and it took the annoying 3D scanlines out)that they were selling at the time the Dreamcast was out that made your 3D graphics even better. You can choose from Exhibition, Season, Practice, and Franchise mode. I prefer Franchise, because you can keep your records over time and also your players can improve over time. The hits are realistic. The moves are super realistic and there are so many. This game also allows maximum control passing, allowing you to place the ball where you want; you do have to set it & you'll probably need it(esp. if your best passing routes are in heavy traffic), as the defenses are super tough on the highest level. Also, sell a pass by pump faking. Madden has better routes than does NFL2K1, but creating your own plays make up for that; this feature is somewhat limited, you can only create 5 extra plays altogether(off. and def.), and they can be only used with one team. The graphics of this game are far better than the Madden game from the same year. Tips for creating passing plays: You'll have to set up you plays to max protect(limited receivers). The pass rush is so intense initially that you can't depend solely on your offensive line; no matter how great they are; you have to use your FB and/or TE for blocking; if you don't, they'll be all over you and/or causing turnovers! Once you're used to beating the pressure, you'll do much better. Sometimes, just as a real game, you'll have to take sacks; my plays are good, so I never punt; I get far more 1st downs on 4th down than not. You'll have to be really good at using all of these features, because they do "occasionally" cheat a little at times on the highest level. They'll get most of the calls and bounces. To me, that just adds to the challenge. A super game that should be played for years to come; I know I plan to. NFL 2K2 gets an excellent rating.

Keys to actual game playing: All Pro - Being patient on offense/defense is key; choose your 3 off audible plays based upon 3 factors that you will be faced with: A. tight coverage/heavy blitzes, B. safe coverages, & C. light blitzes/medium coverage. You'll have to shuffle from run to pass & vice versa, from short pass to deep pass & vice versa, from inside run to outside run, etc., as the D dictates. Become fluent with the special moves that you have. On defense, the key is to call a great dummy play(hide or reveal it), audibling once or twice, finally getting to the real play, before they can snap the ball(making sure that you are set before they snap the ball) and never audible to a base safe cover, as this will make it less effective. Use high risk-high reward blitzes only in desperation, as after awhile you'll get beat deep(they just get rid of the ball too quickly) & you won't catch them from behind on a regular basis. Alt Dline shifts from play to play and put your Dline in the best position to make a play. When using a safe coverage, unless prevent, call it when calling your play; create plays that are compatible with that plays that you like to use(doesn't have to be the same formation) & that offer features that your plays may not, such as max protect or that uses different routes to cross up the D.

A Great Game

NFL 2K1 is a great dreamcast game. It back in the day, was very comparable and even better than Madden was for the Ps2. The game has great graphics for it being a dreamcast, and great gameplay. It is worth the money, you can find it for pretty cheap.Read full review...
