12-17 Fiat 500 Set Front Power Window Regulators & Motors Upgraded Glass Guide
    04 December 2018
Better than OEM and Dorman. Could use some easy improvements, but it is an upgrade.
I've installed power window regulators on several Fiat 500 and its versions, including Abarth. I used OEM, Dorman and this one, and I can say that OEM and Dorman look almost alike and both appear to be made in China, same as this one, but there are differences: While OEM and Dorman have the same fragile track gear and the weak plastic window holder clip, Dorman's motor is actually slower for about 1 second, but both have the same tendency for premature failure since window is heavy and somethings gotta give. This regulator is different: Track gear seems a little bit more resilient, motor is faster by 1 second compared to OEM and 2 seconds faster than Dorman. They did away with the fragile plastic clip and instead welded a thin metal plate that has a metal tab cushioned with rubber to act as a window holder and a metal stud with a hard plastic bushing that is inserted in the window hole and secured with a plastic C clip, providing better support and reducing lateral play. Still there are things that could be better done, such as welding the stud in place instead of rivetting it and using a metal C clip instead of the hard plastic one that seems to be the weakest link. I read a complain by a buyer where he claimed that the stud and its bushing overall diameter was bigger than the glass hole diameter, but I found out this is not the case. Now if you misalign the stud against the window hole it will give you that erroneous impression, so first align the mechanism, secure the C clip in place and then secure the regulator frame to the door with provided fasteners. Very important: Keep in mind that there is black plastic clip secured to the upper corner of your window and that is a vital piece of the puzzle, since it keeps the window from moving sideways, so make sure is there, in good shape and on track inside the lateral felt channel or the repair won't work or last.

Better than OEM and Dorman. Could be easily improved further. Still an upgrade.
