No equal for macro photography and flat field view, real life sharpness

It doesn't get any better than this. Outstanding on film cameras, phenomenal on digital as well. Better than the newer, more expensive f2.8 up close and at normal distances. A great short telephoto length for your digital camera, yielding an effective 82.5mm length. While not as fast Nikkors 50mm lenses (f2, 1.8, 1.4, 1.2), it is still a valuable addition to any of your 50mm lens for Digital or Film photography!
