Hell's Angels
1 of 1 found this helpful Year's ago I had seen Hell's Angels and had remembered it for its Dog Fight scenes and how good that they were. What I did not remember, because the movies that I compare it to were not made yet, was the emotion of the film and how it left the viewer. Howard Hughes, producing this film is an early cinema creation like that of Wolfgang Petersen's "Das Boot" or Oliver Stone's "Platoon". The aerial scenes are fantastic because they are real, no computers and little special effects. I wonder who lost their lives making this movie because almost as many planes were lost in WWI from mid-air collisions than as by enemy bullets. Remember, it is early acting, and the voice projection by the actors seems more for the theater than the cinema, but it is well worth the money.
