Derailment King
I got both the 838 and 844. This 844 runs ok on completely flat ground level tracks but if you have any imperfections in your track work like sudden 1mm-3mm elevation changes either the tender or front/rear 4 wheel sets will derail. It also doesn’t like my Kato truss bridges and tender keeps derailing on those while pulling the UP Excursion set or anything.

Small, Detailed, Excellent Pulling power & runs on most small layouts
Mines arrived perfectly intact and works excellently. Smooth forward & reverse, smooth driver gear action and pretty quiet operations. Details are top tier but delicate, this 2-8-2 D51-200 locomotive is a work of art. The individual locomotive comes in its own foam & hard plastic Kato box so is well protected from damage- also helps that the awesome seller Plazajapan adds great padding too.
The D51 series is the best running Kato N 2-8-2 locomotives out there and works on 249mm track minimum radius so you can use them on really small layouts if you want.

Beautiful & Cute Set But Be Prepared for Drive Shaft Repair & Read Instructions
This Panda Kuroshio set is very high quality, detailed and cute. It runs smoothly, has both white & red LED lights on Car 1 & Car 6 depending on if which direction they are going. The problem areas are the Drive Shaft & Wheel Assemblies which can come apart easily by accident like say during shipping (Mines arrived with drive shaft loose & detached from one of the wheel assemblies which resulted with the wheel detached when inspecting the Motor Car 5). Putting it back together is tricky and you can easily lose the thin white drive shaft part so be careful! The drive shaft is essential for keeping the wheel assembly pressed against car body so that it doesn't slide off.
The couplers are also rather delicate and snap together and snap off so make sure the track is flat and straight when coupling and uncoupling. It comes with a tiny tool to help but it's useless because it can only be used from the bottom of the train and that means turning over the entire 6 car set if you chose to use it.
