Addictive and concise reading

This is an amazing long awaited addition to any military researcher or collector. The narrative is so complete and compelling and provides great images of letters and photographs of the different gifts sent to all who served in the early years of the Great War. I can also ensure that every reader will learn something new from this book

Fabulous with great individual character storylines

This is one of those stories that you don't want to end! It's so good, it's a book that you could be turned into a period drama and or a film. The story covers a farming family in Wiltshire from 1938, the senior generation having fought during the Great War, a war to end all wars, only to have their children now fighting during the Second World War. The book is so compelling and so well written, it takes you back to the early years, covering major events, love, loss and action and a book for all. Absolutely stunning writing.
