A masterful Shakespeare interpretation on an unfortunate disc

Perhaps the strongest Shakespeare has ever been on film - Javert's performance is predictably excellent, the cinematography is gorgeous (reminds one of Andrei Rublev), and the Shostakovich score is appropriately haunting and reserved. Thankfully, the subtitles are the original Shakespeare. My only complaint is that this specific DVD (published by My Bongo) puts a widescreen movie in the 4:3 ratio, resulting in massive black bars on both the top and bottom. While one can zoom in on VLC media player, the resolution isn't great.
