Enjoy Gaming on the Go With the Nintendo Switch Lite

The Nintendo Switch Lite is a handheld device that you can take anywhere you desire to play games. With a 5.5-inch high-definition display, it is a cheaper and more minimalistic version of the standard Nintendo Switch system. It is available new, used, or refurbished.

What is the difference between the Switch and Switch Lite?

The main difference is that the standard Nintendo Switch is available in both television and handheld mode. It comes with a dock that allows you to play games on your television. The Nintendo Switch Lite, by contrast, is only available in handheld mode. It does not come with a dock, nor will it fit inside one. The controllers are integrated directly into the system and cannot be removed. It also lacks the HD rumble feature and the IR camera. However, it does support the use of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, which is sold separately. It also has Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.1, a USB-C slot, a headphone jack, and a storage slot that supports removable microSD cards up to 2 TB (to supplement the 32 GB of internal storage). The Nintendo Switch Online service and all Nintendo Switch games are compatible with the Switch Lite. Most but not all accessories are compatible as well. See the manufacturer site for details.

What customization options does the Nintendo Switch Lite offer?

The Nintendo Switch Lite comes in four different colour schemes: turquoise, yellow, coral, and grey. If you want something a little more customised, then you can also purchase a limited-edition system featuring a unique colour scheme or engraved image from a particular game such as Pokémon (which comes in the bundle). Decorative skins, carrying cases, and other accessories are also available for the system but are sold separately.

What compatibility issues are there?

If a game is only playable in television mode, then it may not be compatible with the Nintendo Switch Lite. The game should say on the back of the box or the online store whether it is playable in television and/or handheld mode. A few games that rely on the HD rumble and IR camera features, including 1-2-Switch, may have some compatibility issues.

Can the Nintendo Switch Lite play games from different countries?

Since Nintendo Switch game cards are not region locked, you could potentially import games from outside your country. However, the manufacturer cannot guarantee full service and support because they have not tested all overseas software. They recommend purchasing software made specifically for your Nintendo Switch Lite's region.
