Dark Twists And Turns
Jimmy Harris was walking home one cold November night with his seeing eye dog, Stanley, when someone fatally cuts his throat and leaves him dead near his home. Carella and Meyer informs Jimmy's wife, who is also blind, that her husband is dead. They make arrangements to pick her up the next morning to go to the morgue, but when they arrive, she is found dead with her throat cut, too.
#32 in the 87th Precinct Series. This is an excellent psychological thriller, with many dark twists and turns.

Augusta's Abduction
Detective Bert Kling stepped out of the shower. Just outside the bathroom door, his
wife, Augusta, was waiting for him. They had just wed several hours earlier, and were in their honeymoon suite. However, Augusta was not in the room when Bert opened the door. He wasn't alarmed, for he knew the guys at the 87th always pulled a custom prank of kidnapping a cops new wife on their wedding night.Then he saw
Augusta's coat and shoes. He panicked when he smelled the chloroform.
Great plot. Quick read, but an excellent one.
