    Works great
Feels solid and reliable. Works perfectly under Windows 10, recommended for games that require a gamepad (e.g. Dark Souls).
TP-Link TL-PA9020P KIT AV2000 PowerLine Ethernet Network Adapter Range Extender
    04 November 2017
    Good speeds, awkward size
The TP-Link TL-PA9020P is recommended by Wirecutter and several other publications as the current best Powerline Ethernet kit. This model is rated at a theoretical maximum speed of 2000Mbps, effectively 1Gbps in each direction. Of course, actual speeds depend entirely on the distance between the adapters and the condition of your power lines. I'm happy with the speeds this kit gives me in my medium sized apartment. Using the network performance tool iPerf, I measured speeds of about 190 Mbps when connected from one end of the apartment to the other. This is better than I expected, as many publications found lower real speeds in their testing of the product. Keep in mind that your results may vary. Powerline Ethernet will never be as fast as actual Ethernet cables running through the walls. And in many circumstances, 802.11ac Wi-Fi may be the better solution. Why only 4 stars? Each unit is quite bulky and can be an awkward fit in many power outlets (see photo). In double socket power outlets, the adapter blocks the socket next to it, which is far from ideal. Luckily each adapter has an in built power socket, which mitigates the problem somewhat. Plugging in electrical devices into the adapters didn't seem to affect speeds. Overall, this is might be the best Powerline Ethernet kit you can buy right now, but take note of the limitations.

    Mbeat Elite USB-C Hub/Dock Mac/PC/Computer/Windows w/ 4K/Ethernet/Card Reader

    Handy set of ports
This hub has a very convenient set of ports and looks good next to a space grey MacBook Pro. It's great as a sort of mini docking station, allowing connecting an external monitor and ethernet, while giving you USB-A ports and an SD card reader. Note that the power delivery port won't provide enough juice for a 15" MacBook Pro. While it's not particularly cheap, the price is comparable to the competition. (Luckily I was able to purchase mine with a discount.) My only quibble is the layout of the ports. It would have been better if the HDMI port was grouped with USB-C PD and ethernet ports, as these cables always lead away from you and your laptop. In the current location, an HDMI cable has to bend awkwardly, possibly interfering with the USB-A ports. Speaking of which, the USB-A ports are upside down for some reason. Annoying, but not a deal breaker.
