Deftones - Koi No Yokan (R) (2012) - ** NEW**- Compact Disc
11 May 2016
Is this the Deftones' best album?
This album is great from the beginning to the end. Opener "Swerve City" pummels the listener with a simple yet brutal riff and balances it out with quieter, more atmospheric verses. "Leathers", "Graphic Nature", "Gauze", "Rosemary" and "What Happened To You" contain both heaviness and texture at the same time, which is not an easy task to pull off. "Entombed" has a nice blend of loud and quiet with some very catchy guitar riffs. "Tempest" is a mix of quiet atmospheric parts with louder, distorted guitar. This album doesn't have a bad song on it (it doesn't have a song that isn't either great or very near-great) and is probably the Deftones' most consistent album. Chino sounds great, with his soaring vocals on songs like "Swerve City" and "Leathers". He is one of the best singers on the planet and perhaps the most underrated vocalist in modern times. The best thing about Koi No Yokan is there is no rapping and no pseudo-nu metal-style macho posturing. The album has soft atmospheric parts juxtaposed with brutal downtuned riffs, sometimes within the same song. The Deftones have come from a band falsely accused of fitting in with the hated nu metal movement to one of the most consistently respected bands in the world. They keep the classic albums coming with no sign of letting off. If you get a chance to see them live, jump on it because they are excellent live. Buy this CD today!
1964 25C Type B Rev FS-901 Washington Quarter
22 July 2016
Nice coin
This quarter is nice despite the fact that it is a "problem coin". The issue is a scratch that is barely visible. I was aware that it had AU 55 details when I bought it so I knew what I was buying. The type B reverse is fairly uncommon so I grabbed this one because it was a good value and I liked the coin. I eventually want a Type B reverse in MS 64 or better but for now this one will suffice very nicely.
Ford Spotter's Guide 1920-1992 by Burness, Tad Paperback Book The Fast Free

Fantastic book
All of the Tad Burness automotive books are classics. The Ford Spotter's Guide is no exception. When I was young, the local library had a copy of the Burness book that covers all American cars from 1940 to 1965. I bet I checked it out 50 times when I was a lad. I learned so much about cars from that book. This book has some of the same pictures and text as that book, but it also covers a much wider time range. If you want to learn to be able to tell the year of a car just by looking at it, this book is for you.
