Last Will and Testement of an American Orginal
I can't imagine being without this. When I bought it, I thought maybe some of the material would be a little weaker than the four American sets, but it's not. There are enough surprises, pleasures and revelations on this set to classify as an essential set. For the Cash fan who was converted by the American releases, this is just as essential as those that have been following him all along. Some of his 60's albums have some production concepts that make them a little bit weaker, but none of that is on the American releases. It's just shocking that before Rick Rubin signed Johnny, he was without(and without expectation) of being signed by a major label. How ironic that the best music he made since his 50's and early 60's sides came at the very end. I can't recommend this material enough.

Previously Unreleased Goldmine
I don't know what album the other guy who reviewed this was listening too, but it couldn't have been this. For recordings off of acetates which are notorious for deteriorating after repeated playing, this sound is first class, easily as good as any other release by Hank Sr. This is far from my opinion alone. The vast majority of reviews I've read of this album are overwhelmingly positive. It's a great collection which had previously only been available on poor quality bootlegs. My only gripe is that my version didn't come with the bonus DVD! There's further music of this series still in the can. I think this 3-CD set may be about half of what's there. However, one never knows what might have been damaged or lost, but this, is great.

Another Smoking Hot Whiskeytown Album
There's nothing to dislike here if you like the group,Ryan Adams or alt-country in general, or for that matter Gram Parsons, since Whiskeytown has more of a Parson groove than anything anything else I've heard.
