This lens is a gem
I got this lens on auction (brand new) so price wise it is cheaper than retail price.
To give some background, I have the famous FA 43 Limited and use it quite often and I don't have the budget to buy the big D FA* 50
Compared to that FA 43, this DA* 55 surprisingly sharper though contrast is a bit reduced (the difference is subtle) which I can totally accept considering this lens is weather resistance and its small size (the hood is a bit long though).
Now I can confidently take this lens out on any uncertain weather condition, while FA 43 will still remain useful in fine weather.

spectacular camera with underrated system
I am a long time nikon user, moved to panasonic g9 then olympus em1x. Though i am still using my olympus for birding and anything requires long zoom, but pentax k1 mk2 has its own unique strength as below:
- has superb image quality and excellent low light capability even compared to nikon.
- acquired gps location much faster and more accurate versus olympus em1x.
- yes it is slower in auto focus but it is precise and i don't have any issue capturing little kid.
- ergonomic is very good and on par with olympus em1x,
- button and controls are really well thought, menu is simple and straightforward.
- all weather body, very well made and sealed, top notch quality
- has good range of lenses, from wide, normal to telephoto
- lens auto focus technology is behind other brand, but pentax lenses has superb coating and well known for it flare resistance,
- pentax lens generally has very good rendering, especially the limiteds
- all weather resistance lenses are widely available as well, only olympus and fuji can match this.
- shake reduction (in body image stabilization) built in the camera body, means every lens will be stabilized.

Excellent for casual shooters and beginners
This camera is light and small with a lot of functions and features. People said 43 sensor is small and phone camera is better, unfortunately they are wrong. I have used many camera brands and phones, if I want to have a phone like pictures then basically you just need to crank up the saturation output of your camera, but then it won't be realistic anymore.
To me, this Olympus/OM System camera has the best jpeg color output, minolta is at 2nd position, the color look natural and true to life, of course you still have option to crank up the saturation in the menu.
Furthermore, it has so much configurations in the menu thus don't quickly judge this camera if you haven't explored all those configurations.
Auto focus wise, it is almost as fast as the leader, I use this camera to take pictures of my 10months baby and it can keep up with his active movements, frankly speaking don't expect sophisticated eye af detection but face detection is accurate and more than enough for my standard.
Noise, up to ISO 6400 the noise still acceptable, and right now you can use OM Workspace (free if you buy the camera), download the AI Noise reduction and it is quite good to reduce the noise.
Lens selection is much much better compared to any APS-C brand except Fuji, and olympus lenses normally very sharp.
This camera has weakness in the tripod mount as reported by many, just don't put any thing over there except mount to tripod or camera grip and you will be fine.
Overall this is a very good looking camera with underrated capabilities.
