Hollywood finally got it right...somewhat;
a very entertaining tale based upon some of the highlights of a true hero’s incredible life;
that in it self is amazing when you consider a person who at times could easily pass for a reptile had so much to do with it (Gibson);
the combat scenes were very effective right up to where he kicks away a grenade that explodes in the air;
that would’ve near taken his leg off and surely killed everyone in his proximity as this is what fragmentation weapons are expressly designed to do via concussion force and shrapnel pattern, particularly airborne ones;
still, for a man half the size of the over 100 wounded men he hauled to safety across an active battlefield the length of at least three nuclear attack aircraft carriers laid end to end..even Hollywood couldn’t dream that up;
the low-key acting style of the mostly unknown cast—the actress who played Doss’ mom may have played the wife of Kevin Costner in ‘The Rookie’—was a welcome relief from the current crop of top-heavy method actors and self-appointed pop stars and celebutants currently infecting Hollywood;
it helped immensely that the special effects were in most part limited to the accuracy of Das Boot, Letters From Iwo Jima, Tuskegee Airmen, Fortress and Saving Private Ryan;
all in all, a surprisingly good movie;

You will NEVER look at tomatoes the same way again;
proof positive that parents have nothing to say to today's youth when it comes to being dirty and raunchy about sex;
believe me, if you want to give a, ahem, quick and dirty lesson in sex ed, sit them down and let them listen to this collection from their parents (and maybe toss in "You Sure Love To Ball" by Marvin, "Love Won't Let Me Wait" from Major Harris and "Between the Sheets" from the Isleys) and then their grandparents' tunes in the album "Copulatin' Blues, Vol. 2" and they will be prepared to face anything the world might throw at them--and hopefully, know when to duck!

a classic;
when put together with "Secret Agent" and "The Prisoner", perhaps the finest long-running trio of series ever produced for television;
one episode will be enough to demonstrate why to this day Diana Rigg is so far and away the best Bond Girl the others needn't be mentioned, and why in her eighties she is virtually carrying a current cartoonish made-for-Saturday-morning-TV serial on her still ramrod straight back;
