Have rebellion?, you need this expansion!
A great expansion to a great game! This adds more characters, ships, cards, and structures in content. The necessary improvement is with combat and this expansion does it well. Variety with green dice adds minor skills and alternative outcomes in battle. Using characters do limit the randomness a bit and makes battles feel more epic (in victory).
The only drawback is with the initial setup. The expansion cards have a marker to differentiate it from the core set. You must organize and replace cards to start using the expansion. Oh... and it is best played with 2 and only 2. (There is a solo variant available, but it requires a lot of dice rolls/coin flip for AI play)
If you love strategy, star wars, just epic galactic play, this is the game for you.
There are alternatives if you wish for strictly space combat as star wars armada (capital ships)or star wars x-wing(2nd edition, fighters). For ground combat you may consider star wars legion (40k miniatures) or star wars imperial assault (board game). Star wars lcg is card based if you have limited space.

Box busting
6 of 6 found this helpful I don't normally play board games or any rpg that is not a video game. The price tag did make Gloomhaven look less appealing, however this singular box contains so much. I needed to purchase extra containers just to close the box!
Yes, it is easier to play a video game. Yes, it does take a while to setup and clean up. Yes, the rules for the enemy movement is very confusing. Yes, you will lose a ton and will have to set everything up again. Yes, it takes a very long time to play and it gets exponentially worse with each added player.
However none of these issues would prevent me from trying again. Your decisions will stick with you to the end of this game. Oddly enough I have no regrets, even with my poor choices.
Try a round with a friend's Gloomhaven first. If you cannot wait to see what happens next, buy it. Play it solo and master the basics (have a search engine ready).
This game does fantasy in a different universe from your standard dwarves and elves. Discovering is a huge part of this world (mostly in dungeons).
Do I have a score? No, because honestly I don't have anything similar to compare it to. Just be ready to have fun. Young kids are not recommended for this game. Try mystics and mice instead or pokemon.
