Pretty good, does the job.
I used pre filters on every filter I own. This one is pretty good and does a good job of capturing detritus and uneaten food which prolongs the life of my filters, prolonging the time needed between maintenance and gives the fish a chance to eat the food at a later time. I only wish that the sponges were of a coarser type. Which seems impossible to find in Australia. A coarse sponge of the same type would need a lot longer before it needs to be squeezed out.
