The World of Sled Dogs: From Siberia to Sport Racing by Coppinger, Lorna
11 October 2020
The Overlooked Sled Dog
WHile this book could be updated because of genetic advances and the increase in cross breeding for Alaskan Huskies it still stands as the only true academic research on the top dog athletes in the World. There are some books on the sport and Lew Freedman comes to mind and fewer books on how to train sled dogs (Fishback and Seavy). Many people who live in the North American or European Pet Dog World don't' know anything about the Coppingers' work with sled dogs or village dogs--if you want to be well read in the canine field you MUST read all of their works.
Clicker Training for Obedience: Shaping Top Performance--Positively
25 May 2022
A Must Have for Clicker Trainers in Sport Obedience
Spector was the first of the "clicker trainers" to apply the work to SPort Obedience (specifically AKC) If you know Operant Conditioning then you will see that he has applied a very systematic approach. Is it the fastest way or the best way? No. Guiding the dog instead of trying to "capture" or "Shape" a behavior is much faster. You must be aware that "clicker trainers" have a strong ideology that they put in front of results yet I ahve personally called on some big names in clicker training to show me how they can call a boar hound of a boar from half a mile away, or how they stop Yukon Quest sled dogs all 14 of them not to engage a Moose, or how they train dogs to avoid snakes--they don't have answers). (although they claim they do-- There is far mroe content in this book than you will find in 10 of Karen Pryor's books (if you want to find the person who helped create the Modern CLicker Training movement. The other person was Gary Wilkes. I've trained dogs since 1974 (Top-K9). I'm aware of a lot of methods and I've had experience in a lot of niches: Retrievers, Pointers, Boar Hounds, Sport Obedience Sled Dogs, Anti Poaching Dogs, War Dogs, Sentry, Scout Dogs, Pet Dogs, etc. I also have a degree in Behviorism so you're going o be hard pressed to find a more cogent review of the method.
Handgun Target, 3 Auto Reset Targets, Steel, 9mm to .45 Caliber Pistol, Shooting

Limited
If you are using a 9mm or above you will have to be careful at how much this can take the recommended distance is a little far for true tactical training with a tactical gun
