A Comedy that's Managed to Last Through the Ages
1 of 1 found this helpful Fifteen years ago, my older sister's then boyfriend had a little movie called Monty Python & The Holy Grail playing on in the background. I'd usually walk by movies that they would play, but something about this one got me to laugh. Shortly later, I saw the movie in entirety and then got my own DVD copy (which I would proceed to watch so many times through my junior high and high school years). Several films I enjoyed back then have kind of slipped off my radar, and when I decided to get this new version (because I love collector's edition sets), part of me was worried it would be the same case. How happy I am to be so wrong.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is still my favorite comedy of all time and one of my favorite movies period. It's clever satire and commentary, great pacing, and hilarious character interactions make it an endless source of joy. The 40th Anniversary set also makes it look better than ever, minus one or two moments of graininess that I noticed, but those are nitpicks at very most! It's held up through so many years, and I'm now confidant it will do the same for so many more.
