Worked initially, until iPhone 7 recognized it was a uncertified device
Volume buttons didn't work with this initially. After using for 5 minutes to listen to music the iPhone 7 prompted a unrecognized device screen. After that the headphones would no longer play with iPhone while connected to this dongle.
