Top of the line model

A story with a heart of gold, with humor, sarcasm and a little twinkle thrown in.
To be honest, I happened to meet Lydia Sherrer and her husband at a nearby Comic Expo in Cincinnati, OH. The first thing I was struck by was the size of her table, a bowl of chocolate candies and two books that looked to be geared toward a younger adult crowd. That didn’t stop Lydia Sherrer, though. She offered a piece of chocolate from her candy dish and asked if I liked to read or knew of someone who liked to read. The answer I gave was simple: I love to read, but, I didn’t believe I was part of this demographic. Undaunted, Lydia handed me her first book, ‘Love, Lies and Hocus Pocus: Beginnings’.
The books I like to read tend to be darker, dealing with hauntings, possessions and other ghastly events. I couldn’t imagine reading a book about magic, wizards and witches, not to mention a talking cat! But, I agreed to flip through the book and check out some of the writing. I didn’t get past the copyright page because I saw that Lydia’s publisher was based in Louisville, KY, same town I lived in. Now, this was a difference maker because I was supporting a local talent. I told Lydia to give me her first and second book. I planned on reading them, just like I intended to. Silently, I told myself that I shouldn’t expect much.
On October 10th, I finished book one. I realized many things while making the journey through this book. I enjoyed the hell out of the book. Lydia Sherrer writes at such a different level, it was staggering. The story was simply fun. I haven’t had fun reading a book in a long time. I actually wanted to know how these characters would work their way through the predicaments that were set in front of them throughout. Lydia also treats her readers with tremendous respect. For a person like me, I didn’t feel silly while reading this book, and I’ve read several that were head-scratchers. This author proved that it is possible to teach an old dog, like me, a new trick or two. I am recommending it to many of our friends who have kids in the 13+ and up age range.
I will be a lifelong fan from here forward, and, I am one very finicky and stubborn reader. I found that it is fun to read something much lighter and still enjoy the weird and bazaar.
I truly recommend the books from Lydia Sherrer. Sit back and just enjoy the ride you’ll take on this journey. Let your guard down and let your imagination run.
