Casio AE1200WH-1A Men's Black Resin Strap World Time Chrono Alarm Digital Watch
22 August 2018
Value in spades
If you're a watch fanatic, and you read Hodinkee regularly, then you'll know why everyone has been buying up this watch. The band is a bit narrower than I expected, but the size of the face is right in the sweet spot. It has the old backlit illumination, which isn't the best, but, for a traveler, you can't beat the value here.

Sleeper Awesome Nikes
I'm definitely a sneaker head. I've owned four pairs of Air Terra Humara over the years, in this exact style with varying colorways. They're in my top 4 all-time Nikes, which may surprise some people. I love the combination of colors they come in and I love how they fit - super comfortable. I really have always loved the ATH and have been rocking them since high school - that's a LONG time!
Orient Tri Star Automatic FEM5L00QR9 Luminous Dial Stainless Steel Men's Watch

Honest opinion from a horophile
I own A LOT of timepieces - both expensive, cheap, vintage and new. I never had an Orient before and was looking for a watch with a fully luminous face so I figured, Can't go wrong to try a watch for 80 bucks. But not all watches are the same. Cheaper watches can feel really great on the wrist and there are some really expensive pieces out there that may not wear very well. This watch feels supremely chintzy to me. If you are really into watches then you can just instantly tell when the stainless steel links are up to snuff. For instance, there are plenty of models of Seiko (SKX, SNZF, etc.) that can be found for inexpensive prices, and they've never disappointed me. Likewise, there may be other Orient variations that wear better. But this particular model feels cheap to me. I won't return it, but I doubt it'll get much wrist time. I'll probably give it to my son when he gets a little older and is more competent in time telling.
