Great Resource
Great Book on art in general and pastel in particular. I love realism, and do water color and oil landscaped. This book and its companion, The Big Book of Painting Nature in Oils, both purchased used, have been a great inspiration with the subject matter content, as well as the different techniques demonstrated. Many full color step by step illustrations. Highly recommended.

Great Industrial Statistics (SPC) Reference
As a manufacturing engineer, I used to get this book free when each new edition came out from my local instrumentation distributor (for DataMyte, A-B ...). The first third of the book contains the timeless reference material in an easy to understand and apply format. The last two thirds are a product catalog, and currently, with these dated / older editions, are of little to no value. They deal with the company's instrumentation in actual applications, so some general principles may be of limited use, but obviously, the products no longer exist. It's the SPC (statistical process control) principles that are of great value and timeless: Basic statistics, control charts, capability studies, basic measurement and GRR, sampling, JIT and QC. I've recommended this book highly in my validation and other FDA-regulated industries workshops and webinars, and have given several away over the years.

Pastel Techniques in a Small / Concise Handbook
Initially I was disappointed, expecting to see the majority of the book devoted to doing complete pictures. However, as I dug into it I saw its focus on techniques, colors, specific / detailed subject matter, e.g., birds, flowers. There are some discussions of the techniques of famous artists as they apply to pastels, and a fair amount of completed sketches, some showing the steps involved, others not. For a basic reference in mastering the techniques available to a pastel artist, this is an excellent choice.
