Great Little Unit for basic use
It works! You'll get significantly better sound using this mic, compared to the standard PC/smartphone/tablet mic can offer. Quite easy to set up and use, even with a basic Samsung tablet. We have used it at home with a Lenovo notebook, Samsung tablets and smartphones. Works best when it's possible to use with the USB jack. With the 3.5mm jack, you have to manually set the sound output on your device from the headphone jack (the device does so automatically since the 3.5mm jack is put in use) to the device speaker. That was the case with Skype on the tablets - not sure how that will go with other software and device combinations. All in all we're very happy with it, and so are the kids' music teachers on the other side because the sound is so much better.

Fun and Functional
Quite light, versatile and quality bit of kit. Robust enough to be stashed into the backpack and survive camping. Can even make smores in it! Haven't tried it, but I imagine the grill can be opened and placed above hot coals (perhaps not directly on them) to grill a steak, etc. Love it!

Great combination of functions
1 of 1 found this helpful A little bit bulkier than a basic flat based compass, but on the other hand it's quite well featured for its size! I'm using it as a backup/secondary/survival unit - with the mirror. It's a good quality mirror and protected by being encased in..well, it's case. It's lightweight, so you can slip it into your pocket or bumbag or bug out bag - even hang it around your neck. If you need anything stronger or more accurate or with luminous points, then you're probably out to do something this unit was never meant for. Suunto is considerate enough to make it (and many of their compasses) for the southern hemisphere so I'm really grateful for that. Other regular niceties like declination adjustments and so on are built in. It's as complete a compass as I'd need. However, please note that if you have some degree of long-sightness (i.e. me) then it may be a bit difficult to make out the markings when in use with the mirror and sighting a target. The lanyard which comes with it is just long enough to fit over my head, but might be a bit short for others. It might also be a bit short for those who like to stretch the lanyard from their neck, to get a straight aim at their target. I would also have liked it to be a bit stronger.. but that's me. There's a whistle that comes with it, and although it clips on to the compass where the lanyard hole is, then it's not really possible or convenient to attach the lanyard to the hole anymore. Maybe being a bit more than middle aged, and starting to be forgetful, I would like to see the case in blaze orange!! Just being an obnoxious color would make it difficult not to notice, and not be left behind somewhere. These points matter only to me and for my intended use as mentioned above - so for some other users they may not matter. I could and still might use a simpler/smaller base plate unit for my neck, but then again it will not have the mirror and most likely not hemisphere specific. All in all, it's a great compass for the money. I'm happy with it.
