Point of No Return DVD John Badham(DIR) 1993

Nothing deep, but entertaining.
Disk is two sided: wide screen and standard. Watching standard side, disk stopped running near the end. I had cleaned the disk prior to viewing. Fortunately the wide screen side played until the end. I bought this specifically to compare to Le Femme Nikita. This is a close copy of the earlier film. Fonda's portrayal of a delinquent is better that Parrilaud's. Le Femme Nikita, however is the better movie, although both strain credulity. Fonda tries too hard to be Zena Warrior Princess who can thrash much larger opponents. The weapons handling is not well done nor the choice of weapons. As an escape in the complete suspension of disbelief it's worth an evenings watch; particularly if you've seen the Luc Beeson version.

La Femme Nikita (DVD, 2000)

Pure Entertainment Writ Large
For an evening of complete escapism, this is a great film. Anne Parillaud is a stunning actress. Tchéky Karyo delivers a great performance torn between Nikita's handler and lover. A wonderful early 90's film when movies were made to entertain not act as Marxist social lectures.
