Looks goos, but not functional
When we received the product, we saw rusty powder within the packaging (not the shipping packaging), but we weren't sure if was from the packaging (background of the backing was sort of red). When we opened it and examined the product, we found that there was rust on the part of the lock that enables it to swing open and closed. Also, it's very difficult to swing it open and closed...will try to use WD40 or something, but it definitely doesn't swing easily...maybe from the rust build up? Anyhow, we are going to keep it and install it...will watch and try to prevent any further rust. The product otherwise looks nice and looks as depicted in picture. I just don't think that it is weatherproof as it states it is on other websites with more detailed information. If you are using it indoors, you should be just fine and hopefully yours will swing better. We are using it outdoors on a chicken coop nesting box, so we are definitely taking the risk that it might not weather well. We like the look of it, and we would return/exchange it for another one that might at least swing better, however figuring that there might be shipping costs involved to ship it back...makes it not seem worth the trouble and expense. The lack of it being weatherproof is a little troubling...but we haven't found another lock that we like the look of better, so we are going to risk it.
