Bad [Bonus Tracks] [Remaster] by Michael Jackson (CD, Oct-2001, Sony Music...

    Michael Jackson: "Bad" Remaster 2001
This is an excellent remaster of MJ's seminal 1987 album. Of all the remasters I have purchased so far ('Off The Wall,' 'Thriller,' and "Bad'), this one includes the best bonus material. The bonus songs "Streetwalker," the latin version of "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," and "Fly Away" are invaluable to any collector and fan of Michael's music. Also, the interviews featuring Quincy Jones reflecting back on the creation of this album are the most insightful and humorous ones to date:) An excellent purchase worth it's weight in gold!
The Art of Noise - Noise In The City: Live In Tokyo 1986 [New CD] Holland - Impo

A "lost" live performance from The Art Of Noise has finally been found, and..it's a Beauty!!
This is a really entertaining, occasionally haunting, yet mainly upbeat set from The Art of Noise recorded in front of a very respectful (!) Tokyo audience in the mid-80's. Originally a broadcast for local Tokyo radio, this previously 'lost' set is now beautifully restored for your listening pleasure. Although The Art of Noise were always ahead of the curve in their use of sampling technology, this truly live performance (while still incorporating many of their well-engineered and often amusing, samples) does not rely on sequencers. Instead it relies solely on the talents of all 8 members of the then touring band to breathe additional life into the studio versions. The collective and individual performances are just brilliant, and for me, "Paranoimia" and "Moments In Love" are (still) the standout tracks. The show closer, a rousing rendition of Glenn Miller's "In The Mood" provides the finishing touch. Add it to your music library today, you won't regret it. Even if you don't consider yourself a fan of The Art Of Noise, you may well be after you hear this:)

    The greatest "rock"umentory to date!
As a musician I find myself constantly reading magazines, biographies, and technical information on all of my favorite groups. Inadvertantly, I also spend a lot of time watching video collections, historical interviews, and of course, a lot of live concert performances. This DVD TRULY HAS IT ALL. Ondi Timoner has done an amazing job of chronicling the trajectory of The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre since the inception of these bands in the mid-nineties. If she never makes another documentary in her life, she can die in the knowledge that she has presented us with one of the finest films of it's kind. "Dig" is very current in its comentary on the music scene/industry but also timeless in its depiction of human nature and the need for artistic expression, whatever the odds. One of the greatest things about this DVD is that it's full of amazing candid moments with the members of both groups that leaves the viewer feeling like you personally know these people afterwards. You want to meet them, hang out with them, play and record with them and laugh constantly at their amazing sense of humor (especially Joel Gion-"tambourine man" of The Brian Jonestown Massacre!). Not knowing too much about either band going into this, I find myself an instant fan of both groups, solely on the strength and their intense belief in creating something genuine, of the ages, and "fun." "Dig" is also an in depth look into the indie rock scene and all the pros and cons today's bands face when they are touring, recording, courting (and being courted), and eventually signing to a major label. Very educational and absolutely a must for every fan, aspiring musician, rock historian, scene-ster, and anyone with a good sense of humor and an appreciation for the glories and the absurditites of life in the world of "entertainment." If you haven't seen this, then cancel all plans, call your favorite musicians and film buffs, throw a diner party and WATCH IT TODAY! Sincerely, Claas
