Reliable and compact. Beware auctions claming it is HD and/or wide screen!
A nice compact projector, aimed at the business presentation user. It is not a "home theater" grade device, but ok for movies if you're not looking for HD. I've seen many auctions claim this projector is HD and wide screen; it is neither. Keep in mind that the display is 800 x 600 pixels, a 4:3 aspect ratio. This is *not* HD or "wide screen"! Yes, you can feed up to 1080i HD signal into it and it will work; but the display is 800x600, and that's that. An HD signal will be scaled down to 600 lines, and 600 lines do not HD make! Also, the contrast ratio is 400:1 which is not great for movies. That's fine for power point presentations, and adequate for casual movie viewing. Critical movie views will want more contrast (not to mention HD and wide screen). That said, I've watched many movies on my two PT-LM2U projectors, and have dragged them out to remote locations many times. For all the bouncing around they get, I've had no problems with them. It has a neat feature in where if power is removed while running or before it's shutdown cooling cycle is complete, the fan will continue to run for a time with the power removed, providing at least some bulb cooling. This has worked out well for me as I'm frequently running these things on unreliable power. It has jacks for stereo sound input; but only one tiny speaker on top, so you're not going to *hear* stereo. The little speaker is probably better than nothing if you are using the projector on a table in a small conference room, that's about it. For movies, an external sound system is a must. Panasonic missed an opportunity by not providing sound output jacks, such that the projector remote could have been used to adjust the volume to an external sound system. So there's just no reason to run sound cables to this projector.
