Great 1995-era rear derailleur !!
Great user-servicable product unlike those of today which are unfortunately, disposable. Testament to great build quality when we have a twenty-six-year old rear derailleur still working like new !!!

Suntour Superbe rear derailleur...
2 of 2 found this helpful This edition of the famous Suntour Superbe flagship-model racing derailleur, was made during a relatively short period from early 1984 through 1986, before being replaced in 1987 by an index-shifting version. This earlier model, called an RD-5200, was sturdier in having the pre-1984 Campagnolo-style replaceable return spring, fastened with a threaded stud. This design meant that the four parallelogram pivots were left "solid" as in the earlier pre-1984 Italian derailleurs, so that the derailleur was far better built than the equivalent Dura-Ace product from rival Shimano. I ride in hilly country, so I always replace the stock short pulley-cage with one from a Suntour XC from the same production period, allowing me to shift wide-range mountain gears with this derailleur. Suntour actually sold a version of this same derailleur with an XC long cage, but with the stop pin in a different location than the XC. The only compromise I make is that there cannot be a stop pin when I put on the long cage, unless I drill and thread a hole for the stop pin. Otherwise, the unit is functionally the same. I have also used a Cyclone MarkII long cage, which installs in the same fashion as the XC cage, and provides essentially the same gear-capacity, with the advantage that the chain can be lifted out of the pulley-cage without either disconnecting the chain or removing a pulley. The Cyclone MarkII cage has the stop-pin in the right place for this conversion. This derailleur is among the most "honest" products I have ever worked with... It shifts very quickly, and has the durability most people only dream about...

Perfect long cages to convert Pre-1984 Campagnolo derailleurs...
These Soma aluminum Rally-style long derailleur cage-plates are the PERFECT item for allowing conversion to low gears while still keeping your original well-built pre-1984 Campagnolo derailleurs!! The extra length allows ample chain-length for use of a triple crankset along with a freewheel or cassette having up to 34 teeth. The outer cage-plate is threaded to fit any Super Record, Nuovo Record, Nuovo Gran Sport, and both types of Rally rear derailleur.
I live in a region with many hills and have ridden since 1973, thus I have been using increasingly lower gears as I have gotten older. I have tried practically every type of derailleur ever made, and have settled on the older Campy units fitted with these cage-plates... PH
