    "GODZILLA VS MECHA-GODZILLA II"
What can you not say in praise of the mighty GODZILLA? He is an American/Japanese icon. This DVD, "Godzilla vs Mecha-Godzilla" (2005)only supports that claim. Actually, I bought this DVD for my grandson, who is being brought up properly with all the monster movies of my heyday, which goes back to ...well....a long time ago. And, though this is of recent vintage, it too goes back to the mid-50's, when The Big "G" first arrived on our shores in the dubbed original, with inserts starring Raymond Burr. Do you know what the original American sequel to "Godzilla, King Of The Monsters" is??? (" Gigantis, The Fire Monster"....(1959) ) Remember that....there could be a test! >>>>> JIM DRISCOLL....SCOOP-038 ...>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    "LOST CONTINENT"
This is a superior testament to the schlocky Sci-Fi jewels of primarily the 1950's, when it all really began. Scientists go off in search of a lost rocket, and find it on a hidden plateau on a mysterios island in the South Pacific. This plateau and lost world has a curious green tint to it, and harbors dinosaurs from eons past. Funky schlock at its best! Don't miss character actor Sid Melton, who somehow doesn't hear a 2-ton triceratops sneak up on him and then give him a fatal enema with his frontal horn. (The one scene I remember from the film as a kid, when I saw it several times when it first came out, in 1951!) Also memorable, Whit Bissel, who appeared in 10,000 bad movies over the years, as he buys the farm as the inevitable victim falling off the mountain during the climb. These films always has one of those poor devils. Good scream, too! This is a 'do not miss' entry from the golden age of Sci-Fi schlock. Another film that is so bad, it is actually good, in a bad sort of way. Ceasar Romero stars, fresh from his numerous portrayals of The Cisco Kid in the '40's. He should have known better!!!

    LOW AND INSIDE
This was a book my grandparents had in their little glass bookcase for many years. It was, and is, a collection of anecdotal baseball stories from the early part of BB history....about up to 1915, or so. I was amazed to find a copy of it on E-bay, and quickly bought it, since I had long lost my grandparent's copy years ago. The stories are supposed to be true, although some test the limits of reality, like the story of the blind outfielder for whom officials scented the ball so he could track it down while playing Right Field! At any rate, I am now reliving those wild stories, most of which last less than a single page in the book. While I plan to give the book to my now baseball-playing grandson, I can still enjoy it myself. Great book...great memories...great deal.
