Looney Tunes Super Stars: Foghorn Leghorn & Friends - Barnyar DVD Region 1, NTSC

    FOGHORN IS DELIGHT !
Mr. Leghorn is his exuberant , manic self in 9 cartoons . His " Friends " are somewhat less entertaining in the other 6, but it's worth the price of admission just to watch that Oversized, Overconfident, Feathered Maniac at his best ! .

    King of Hearts Videodisc

King of Hearts stole mine !
A dud when first released in the U.S., this gem ( maintaining "Cult" status today) has lost none of it's relevant themes even into the Millennium .Filmed as a mid-60s anti-war  protest movie, it features Alan Bates as a Scottish soldier in WWI sent to a small (quickly evacuated) French village to defuse a live bomb planted therein by the German Troops. The only citizens left behind ( Question # 1 - were these deserted inhabitants not worthy of evacuation??!! ) aid and comfort him, even making him their monarch. From that point on  this becomes a thrilling , intensely thought-provoking, and enormously entertaining ride which you loathe to see end ( and WHAT an end ! ). Filmed in French, German & English, if you cannot find the English dubbed version don't be dissuaded from getting the subtitled original - it's easy to follow and doesn't detract from the action in the least . With mind-boggling, brilliant, hysterical performances by the "new" townspeople, and kudos to Bates and young Miss Genevieve Bujold, this film will indeed leave you wondering which groups are the "crazy" ones. It's worth the price of admission just to ponder the innocence of the paper and lace Valentine-type decorations crafted by the town's leading citizens .Truly a joy !

    Where's " You And Me " ?
May be helpful for student research , but very poor , bordering on boring , for general reading public. One entire section on Mrs. Mary Surratt , alleged Lincoln Conspirator , is hardly fit for a book entitled " The War Was You , The War Was Me ." Her story is fascinating , but one can hardly consider her an average "civilian in the American Civil War" .( Besides which her story really doesn't begin until the war was over .) Living historians and Civil War buffs might do well to look elsewhere . There are other books on this subject which are much more enlightening , not to mention more readable , at least for You and Me .
