Have you ever wondered how some children love to read and what you can do to help your child learn to love books and reading?
It is easy and it can be as cheap as chips. Follow these few simple steps to help your child read with ease.
  • Obtain some brightly coloured, fun and easy to read books from your local library, friends, garage sales, ebay, op shops or book shops.
  • Children's books usually have the child's age that the book is suitable for. it is usually on the front cover or maybe inside the front pages. eg Suitable for Ages 3-6.
  • Pick a book that is interesting to your child. Something fun about dinosaurs if your child loves them. Something about horses if she dreams of riding in the wind.
  • Pick your time carefully. You will want a quiet time not when they are itching to do something else. I  always liked to read at bedtime so my child knew it was time to go to bed and then he could dream about nice things (no horror stories)
  • Sit down in a comfortable place - all toasty warm and settled with no distractions.
  • Then begin to read, and  point out the words as you read them. Talk about the pictures. Have fun and make your voice sound interesting in places, louder and softer as the story unfolds.
  • Don't make it too long so they don't get bored. You can always  read the next page tomorrow night and they can learn to look forward to it.
  • If you child isn't interested at first, try another book or another time or place. Make your reading short - maybe some children's poems.
  • But most of all keep trying.
  • Enjoy the time you spend with your child. After all it's not all about the reading. You are forming a special bond with a beautiful child.
