Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Disk Controllers/RAID Cards
This product is good for those who have extra PCI slots in their motherboard and need more SATA connectors. Example is having two Bluray drives and 4 hdd's all general level MB's only have 6 SATA connections and for upgrading person have to replace the existing drive for a new, example SSD to get better performance from the PC that only have HDD's. Like installing OS and programs to SSD will make a big improvement. This card would allow the optical drives to be connected to it to leave space to new SSD's plus maybe for a larger data drives. I have personally 3 HDD's and two optical in my system and then 3SSD's that I use for OS and programs plus two for video editing purposes only. This leaves me still 2 more ports available. My card is Raid capable so if that is needed, it is available, but in my case I need all for storage and work. As these cards are not SATA 3 their speed isn't that good but they work well for DATA and leave space for MB's high speed Raid if that is desired. I also run mine with Windows 10 64, so I know that at least mine work with the most modern setup. As PCI type of expansion slot are getting rarer and more so usable cards, this card will benefit many who are running out of hard drive and SSD options. Just to point out again my setup. It has now 8 SATA ports used and two more available. Read full review

THE CARD ITSELF IS GREAT FOR OLDER PC's THAT YOU WANT TO ADD MORE HARD DRIVE SPACE TO OR A RAID STORAGE SYSTEM. IT HAS DUAL FUNCTIONALITY AS A RAID CONTROLLER OR ,IF NOT IN RAID MODE ,IT ACTS AS A SATA PORT EXPANDER. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE TRY TO GET ONE THAT HAS THE DRIVER DISK THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE INCLUDED. DOWNLOADING DRIVERS FROM THE SYBA WEBSITE IS BIT CHALLENGING AND THE DRIVERS INCLUDED ON THE DISK HAVE A NON-RAID DRIVER THAT I COULD NOT FIND ON THE SYBA WBSITE. NOT HAVING THE NON-RAID DRIVER MEANS THE PC WILL BOOT UP LOOKING FOR A RAID STACK AND TAKE LONGER TO BOOT BECAUSE IT MUST TIME OUT BEFORE DOING A NORMAL BOOT SEQUENCE. AFTER BOOTING THOUGH, THE PC WILL SE THE EXTRA DRIVES CONNECTED TO THE CARD AS REGULAR LOGICAL DRIVES. A MINOR INCONVENIENCE BUT STILL IF I HAD THE CORRECT DRIVER THE BOOT SEQUENCE WOULD BE MUCH FASTER. SO BE WARNED - TRY TO GET THE DRIVER DISK IF YOU CAN ! Read full review

If you need SATA || expansion card for you old PCI motherboard, this controller is a good choice. It works flawlessly under Windows XP. Under Windows 7 drivers are a bit buggy. RAID arrays fall apart after Windows reboot. The same geometry and SMART data reported for all drives connected to one controller. Data transfer speed is capped by PCI bus throughput.

Added two more SATA SSD drives for a total of four to what some would call a "legacy" PC. Until it dies I am running it and Windows 7. I don't buy in to Windows 10 etc. Took a bit of searching, trial and error, but finally found the drivers and got my DVD and three SSD drives all working harmoniously. Yay!
