Liner Note Author: Keith Glass. Raven's 2011 collection A Rich Anthology 1960-1978 is an excellent cross-licensed retrospective of Charlie Rich's peak, sampling every stop he made between Sun and Epic. That's a lot of ground to cover in 27 tracks, and certainly other compilations explore this territory in greater detail, but for a single-disc set this can't be beat: it has every one of his standards from "Lonely Weekends," "Who Will the Next Fool Be?," "Sittin' and Thinkin'," and "Big Boss Man" to "Mohair Sam," "I Washed My Hands in Muddy Water," "Life's Little Ups and Downs," "Behind Closed Doors," and "The Most Beautiful Girl," each one proving what a peerless performer Charlie Rich was. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
