The Iconia W501 is a great tablet crippled with windows 7. I brought the W501 because it uses an X86 based processor, this meant that i could run any operating system that i wanted on it with out any problems. My OS choice was Win 8. The people i would recommend this to would be anyone who wants to play or program for windows 8 now or anyone who wants a tablet but needs to run legacy software only on X86. if you a looking for a tablet for general use (i.e web surfing) then there are many other alternatives available but for me i am very happy with the W501.
This is a decent tablet- provided you get one in good condition for sub $300 delivered. Windows 8 runs very smoothly on it, the touch interface is reasonably accurate. The attached keyboard makes typing easier but the unit is a bit top heavy, so watch out it doesn't fall over backwards. Battery life is fine. 3G works very well. Wi-Fi strength is also good. 32GB SSD size is a negative point, but use of a 64GB class 10 SD card will give you ample room for files. A decent touch screen for Win 8 and would suit a frequent traveler best, easy to lug about and enough battery for several hours to play movies.
