Okay product, I bought it because the two other (Normal) iPods I used to have broke. Touches have better sound and more features. It is 16gb or a couple of thousand songs, you can get bigger storage for a bigger price. However you can keep heaps more songs in iTunes, divide them into Playlists and then add/delete them to the iPod as you want, so it is up to you to work what you would need. My whole CD collection has only filled up about a quarter of mine so 16gb is okay for me. They can even access the internet. If you're a first time buyer, I would go with a touch rather than a regular. They seem to be better and stronger.
I bought this as I needed an Ipod with more space but I was not aware that you couldn't upgrade it to the latest software. I bought it because I only had 8GB on my current Ipod and the kids were using up all the space with games when I mainly use it for music and a few apps. At the end of the day if all you only want to store your music on it, then it's perfect. If you want to install apps on it, forget it. If you want an Ipod that will carry the current upgrades and technology, go for a 2nd Gen, not a 1st Gen. Overall the product is great, just make sure you research before you purchase.
I bought this because of the 16gb space and since its touch. Easier to handle and bigger screen compared to the old ipods( mine was 8gb which wasnt enough space for me). This 1st generation is obviously not as popular now since there quite old. and that there are 5 generations of Iphones are out now... which look simular to Ipod touch.
