Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Save on Wireless Routers
I've now purchased two RT-AC68U routers and I am very happy with the units. I initially just wanted a faster wireless router with a stronger signal than my old router - and that's what I got here. The signal (when you have the aerials vertical) is quite strong across the house and the wireless speed is good. On the 5Ghz band I have achieved connection speeds of up to 1Gbps (only on test - real world is a little slower) The reason I bought the second is that I want to use the mesh facility. This means with one SSID it will automatically transfer to the strongest signal, so as I move throughout the house, my phone/laptop will switch to the strongest router. This unit also has good features to easily identify devices and block or allow them. It is very simple to set up static IP addresses. I have just found this unit to be more straightforward to use than my old units - Linksys, Cisco, WD and the Telstra modem/router. The RT-AC68U is now being superseded, so it's price is coming down. There are faster routers with more features, but they are 50% dearer and have features that I don't need. Maybe when they drop in price and I have gear that can use their tricks I will consider an upgrade, but until then, this more than suits my needs.Read full review

Everything works great except the known issue with drop outs to main 2.4 GHz WiFi channel. I didn't know about this when I bought the modem but the work around is to just set up a Guest network and use that. Annoying but workable. Why don;t they just fix it?

This router is full of features, very useful for a share house as it has customizable QoS. Frequent firmware updates, nice and easy GUI with great coverage (2.4 or 5ghz bands).

This is just a router not a modem/router But it provides faster speeds than than optus provided hardware would recommend. would also recommend buying a new modem anything other than telecom provided hardware is good

I purchased both the DSL-AC68U modem/router and the RT-AC68U to use as an extension to receive the internet in other section of the house as we have double-brick walls. No problems when installing both products to my ISP. I have upgraded from a Cisco set-up and I've noticed a markable improvement in both speeds and reliability. Very happy with both products. I will not hesitate in recommending both the DSL and RT - AC68U models.
