When I first laid eyes on this piece of history, I knew I had to have it. From the design to the sharp details to the chemical makeup, and the attractive patina. During the purchase, the dealer gladly accepted my offer and away it went! Upon receiving this coin, I could feel the history of Australia through my fingertips... So in conclusion fellow buyers and sellers, I'd recommend dealing with distinctivecoins to any coin collector out there, beginner or experienced!

I am a very hard marker and would grade as EF/aUNC as signs of wear on steps on reverse. This is usually the first spot to show signs of wear.

I have an extensive collection of these lovely Canberra Florins and many exhibit the same defining features of the earlier pieces. I suspect because of the very low wear here on the sprays this coin was never circulated. Perhaps like many of these much collected Florins it spent it's life face down in the sock drawer for many years. Earliest marks on the highest part of the coin is the mace of the sceptre and this coin shows minor wear. Also common to this coin you will find a fault in the die running upward across the steps. A bit later it seems they rectified this problem but damaged the dies imparting positive hairlines around the sceptres in some examples. Nice tone and would easily grade over MS61 IMHO.

I simply love this coin. The design to detailing like the steps of the building. Excellent piece of art. There is a proof version of this coin with mintage of 400. Having own a few pieces of the proof version including the finest graded pieces by PCGS n NGC. When I saw this piece, I suspected it is a proof piece that entered circulation or the first die variety. Although picture was not in very high resolution, the strong strike and high relief details stood out. Coin is now on the way to PCGS to be graded. Personal opinion impaired proof coin. So know your stuff and you still might find great deals on eBay.
Nice coin in great condition.
